On the ground at Gigafest Berlin

Editor’s Note: This is a guest article by David Reich (Twitter) from the Tesla Welt Podcast.

Ich bin ein Berliner. These are the famous words with which John F. Kennedy won the hearts of the Berlin population in 1963. Tesla has the same goal. Hearts need to be won in Germany. The stakes are high. Like a gigantesque alien spaceship, the new Gigafactory emerged from the ground in an incredibly short amount of time, for German standards. The skepticism within the German population is very high. An American car company! Building electric cars in the backyard of our German premium brands! You can imagine that a lot of hearts still need convincing. So, Elon Musk announced the Gigafest County Fair, an event for the people of Grünheide, Brandenburg, and Berlin. Tesla got the permission to invite 9,000 people. This is quite exceptional, as COVID-19 restrictions are still quite strict and other big events like the Bavarian Oktoberfest got cancelled this year.

Hands-on with the VW ID.4: The every-person’s electric SUV

As someone who’s owned and operated their fair share of EVs, I was looking forward to experiencing Volkswagen’s first truly mainstream electric vehicle, the VW ID.4 SUV. As a part of a #vwpartner collaboration with Volkswagen, I got the opportunity to drive the VW ID.4 for a few days. What I found was an SUV for the masses that is easy to adapt to if you’re coming from a traditional gas-powered vehicle.

The VW ID.4 also features plenty of tech, including wireless CarPlay on a large available 12-inch display, and available wireless charging. Watch our hands-on video for the details.

Awesomely Weird Alibaba EV of the Week: A fake electric Ferramborghini from China

Tech bro and manly compensation jokes aside, how cool would it be to have your own supercar parked in your garage? How many young boys didn’t grow up looking at Ferrari posters or have at least one Lamborghini in their Hotwheels car collection? I for one never thought I’d actually own one… at least until I found this work of art on Alibaba. Though the more I looked, the more things didn’t seem to quite add up for this being a bona fide Italian sports car.

The first clue might have been that it was on Alibaba.
