China’s surge pushes global wind toward fastest growth ever

The global wind industry is going to hit some unprecedented growth milestones, according to Wood Mackenzie’s Global Wind Power Market Outlook for Q3 2025. The world is on track to add its second terawatt of wind capacity by 2030. To put that in perspective, it took 23 years to install the first terawatt, which was reached in 2023. The second will come in just seven.

2026 Nissan Leaf 3rd-generation first drive impressions: don’t you dare call it a hatchback

Nissan unveiled its third-generation Leaf earlier this year, but we were allowed some initial drive impressions on Wednesday. Of course, the first thing that stands out about the new Leaf is its design. Nissan says it’s adopting a subcompact crossover style instead of the hatchback style in the previous two iterations.

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the quirky design of the first-generation Leaf, but the design was polarizing to say the least. The second-generation Leaf was more widely palatable, but bland and almost forgettable. The design team at Nissan stepped up hugely with the 2026 Leaf, channeling looks from the Nissan Ariya, which shares the same EV platform.

Toyota is recalling over 590,000 vehicles and halting EV sales

Toyota was hit with a major recall on Friday, impacting around 591,000 vehicles in the US. The company is recalling certain RAV4, Camry, Corolla, Grand Highlander, and several Lexus models. The situation gets worse with another recall leading to a stop-sale of Toyota, Lexus, and Subaru electric vehicles.

BYD Yangwang launches ultra-swanky U8L SUV with 24k gold emblems (don’t worry, this one floats too)

BYD’s ultra-luxury sub-brand, Yangwang, launched its fourth all-electric model in China, and it’s another design marvel. Like its U8 predecessor, the Yangwang U8L SUV has “Emergency Float Mode.” Plus, this one can tank turn, is powered by four motors, and has 24-karat emblems.
