Tesla (TSLA) surges with retail investors on Trump and Musk pumping the soufflé

Tesla (TSLA) surged 10% this morning, fueled by money from retail investors on President Trump, White House officials, and CEO Elon Musk pumping the stock.

It is sending Tesla’s price-to-earning ratio back up to record highs, which Musk warned could lead to the stock crashing “like a soufflé being smashed by a sledgehammer.”

EHang double breakthrough: eVTOL factory, first unmanned flight in Europe

Hyundai has a multi-billion-dollar bet to dodge Trump’s tariffs, boost EVs in the US

The South Korean auto giant has no plans to slow down in the US. Hyundai will reportedly announce another $20 billion investment in the US later today. The funds will help boost local production, including a new steel plant for its upcoming EVs. President Donald Trump and Hyundai are expected to announce the new US investment later today.

BYD continues to defy expectations after sales surge to a record +$100 billion

China’s BYD beat estimates after sales topped the $100 billion mark for the first time last year. Even with lower-priced vehicles, China’s largest EV maker’s revenue climbed nearly 30%, enough to beat out Tesla. With a slate of new luxury models, SUVs, electric supercars, and smart technology rolling out, 2025 could be even bigger.

EVs power up, oil demand growth slows: 2024’s rapid global energy shift – IEA

Global energy demand spiked in 2024, driven largely by surging electricity use, according to a new report released today by the International Energy Agency (IEA). Electricity consumption jumped by nearly 1,100 terawatt-hours – a hefty 4.3% increase – nearly twice the annual average growth of the past decade.

This dramatic rise was largely fueled by the electrification of transportation, record-breaking global temperatures that ramped up cooling needs, coupled with increased industrial activity, and growing energy demand from data centers and AI applications.
