London-based Rho Motion just dropped the latest numbers on global EV sales for January 2025, and here’s the headline: 1.3 million electric vehicles were sold worldwide. That’s down by more than a third from December’s record-breaking numbers, but don’t let that fool you – January 2025 still saw an 18% jump compared to the same month last year.
In a short but funny interaction, Jay Leno had to remind Tesla executives that the Roadster still exists – sort of, since it has been delayed seemingly indefinitely.
Honda extended its partnership with the NHL, but it may look a little different this time. Can Lucid (LCID) make 1 million EVs a year? CEO Peter Rawlinson said this is his vision, and Lucid has ambitious plans to achieve it. After launching its first electric SUV, the Gravity, Lucid will enter the mass market with its midsize platform starting at around $50,000. Rawlinson said this is “finally when we compete directly with Tesla,” but the EV maker has even bigger plans to drive growth.
Tesla has started production at its new Megafactory in Shanghai, its second such factory, and it is starting to ship to its first customer.
